COURSE INFORMATION

Level 2/Level 3 Qualification: Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) Level 2/Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid

This single-unit qualification is designed for individuals who work on or near electric and hybrid light vehicles. Typical job roles include vehicle fitters, mechanics, technicians, auto electricians, recovery specialists, vehicle inspectors, body repairers, and refinishers.

The unit provides essential knowledge of the hazards associated with electric and hybrid vehicles, the safety precautions required to mitigate these risks, and an understanding of how these vehicles operate. Learners will be equipped to safely isolate and reinstate high-voltage systems, as well as remove and replace high-voltage components.

Eligibility Requirements

This course is open to all individuals, regardless of their prior experience or current job role. There are no formal entry requirements, making it accessible to anyone with an interest in working safely with electric and hybrid vehicles.

It is suitable for those already employed in the motor vehicle industry. Such as mechanics, technicians, and vehicle electrician as well as those considering a career change or wishing to upskill in this growing sector. Whether you are new to the industry or looking to enhance your existing knowledge, this qualification provides a valuable foundation in electric and hybrid vehicle safety and maintenance.

Accreditation

Upon successful completion, learners will receive a Level 2 / Level 3 Skills and Education Certification that confirms their ability to work effectively and safely within the field, in line with industry standards and regulations.

Course Duration

This is a two-day course designed to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical skills for working safely with electric and hybrid vehicles. The extended duration allows for more in-depth learning, including fault diagnosis, safe working practices, and correct use of diagnostic equipment. Certification is awarded upon successful completion.
