COURSE INFORMATION
Course Overview
This advanced-level course is designed to provide in-depth knowledge and practical skills in modern electronically controlled chassis systems used in commercial and passenger vehicles, with a focus on Anti-lock Braking Systems (ABS), Electronic Braking Systems (EBS) and Electronically Controlled Air Suspension (ECAS).
The programme equips participants with the expertise required to diagnose, maintain and repair complex vehicle control systems. As vehicle technology continues to evolve, chassis systems have become increasingly reliant on electronic control units, sensors and network communication. This course explores the integration of mechanical, pneumatic and electronic components, enabling learners to understand how these systems interact to enhance vehicle safety, stability and ride comfort.
Participants will also study CAN bus communication, system calibration and safety practices when working with high-pressure air systems and vehicle electronics. Real-world fault scenarios and troubleshooting exercises ensure that learners can confidently apply their knowledge in workshop and fleet maintenance environments.
Eligibility Requirements
This course is suitable for individuals who have completed a foundation course in vehicle electrics, as well as experienced diagnostic technicians looking to further develop their skills.
Participants should have a solid understanding of the fundamentals of electrical circuits.
Accreditation
Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded a professional certification from the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI), recognising their competency in the chosen course.
IMI qualifications are specifically developed for the automotive sector, ensuring industry-relevant standards and recognition.
Course Duration
The course duration is two days, consisting of one day of theory followed by one day of assessment.
